Jose Dolores Diaz was born on April 30, 1930 in Querétaro, QE Mexico.
Jose was a circus clown who work on many circuses in the United States, Mexico and Central and South America. Jose began his circus career with Circo Atayde, where he performed for many years. Not only did Jose perform as a clown, he also was a very skilled "show electrician", a trade which is very specialized and in great demand on circuses.
Jose was the Patriarch of the "Diaz Family" of circus performers, who performed unicycle, juggling, trapeze and hair hang acts on many circuses and stage shows.
In 1972 Jose immigrated to the U.S. where he worked on Hoxie Bros. Circus, Clyde Beatty Cole Bros. Circus, Stu Miller's "Magic Time USA".
After Jose's retirement in the early nineties he became very involved in Masonic organizations and charitable activities. He was Master of Universal Masonic Lodge 178, a member of the Scottish Rite and Egypt Shrine Temple of Tampa, FL.
Jose passed away November 11, 2013 of cancer and was buried in Tampa, FL. with Masonic honors. |
